Entrepreneurial Abundance

Entrepreneurial Abundance

An idea that I’ve come across more and more is the idea of a mindset of abundance vs a mindset of scarcity.  I think that this can apply to most areas in life.  I want to explore it as it applies to entrepreneurship.  I’ve seen great examples of people thinking business is a zero sum game, I strongly believe that it’s not, and that through an attitude of abundance you can grow your business faster.

Most people are deeply scripted in what I call the Scarcity Mentality. They see life as having only so much, as though there were only one pie out there. And if someone were to get a big piece of the pie, it would mean less for everybody else.

The Abundance Mentality, on the other hand, flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It is the paradigm that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making. It opens possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Abundance in opportunities

I love the idea of ‘connecting dots’.  For me that means seeing links between two people, ideas, concepts that others may not have seen.  This is even more pertinent when it comes to the technology and e-learning industry that I’m involved in.  A great example of this is Virtual Reality (VR).  This is a very exciting area, and VR may intersect with a number of areas in life.  Naturally I’m thinking about its use in training and as a natural extension of what we’re doing in e-learning.  What about if Capytech was the first/leader in the VR training space in the UAE?  These kind of ideas excite me, and it’s through this connection we may derive great success.

I’m not worried that someone might steal this idea because I wrote about it here.  If this opportunity didn’t occur to you before, then great!  Develop a wonderful business or product, and hopefully we can work together!  I think more about others that might consider it, and decide to contact me because they have similar thoughts or they might want to be my first client!

There is plenty of business opportunities out there.  I’ve got such great confidence in Capytech’s ability to execute on our ideas that I’m not worried if someone else is doing it.  If we’re not great at it compared to our competitors – then we probably shouldn’t be doing it anyhow!

Abundance in connections

For those that have met me, you may well have seen me thinking about who I should connect you with.  Some people will try and control your interactions with anyone they’ve introduced you to.  If they don’t, they might miss out on a finders fee or commission.  I hate this mentality.  I think it’s shortsighted, and will eventually limit the amount of business you will do with either person.

Instead I want to introduce people that will likely never have met, and let them figure it out.  Sure I might miss out on a tiny amount of revenue at the outset – but both parties are going to be grateful to me in the long run.  The next time either of them know someone that is looking for some e-learning, or an app, or anything related to technology – I will come into their minds.  They won’t hold back, as being able to reciprocate abundance is greatly rewarding.

Be abundant in your business

I think living with a mindset of abundance is the healthiest way to live, both personally and in business.  The positives of thinking this way, greatly outway the negatives.  You might miss out on some opportunities, or have them taken from you – but they were probably ones you were better off without.

By thinking with abundance, you set yourself up to be happier in life, and more successful in business.
