I hope that everyone’s year has got off to a great start! Like everyone else, I’m optimistic that 2021 will be a better year in many ways than 2020.
It’s been a long time since my last newsletter, and that’s certainly not because nothing has happened! A lot of friends have said that e-learning must have ‘done well’ with lockdowns and remote working. Whilst we’ve done ok, the reality is that the ‘the first budget to get cut is training’ still holds quite true!
I’m sure many companies would have loved to fully adopt e-learning, but budgets simply weren't there. I saw many training companies and departments request e-learning, but in fact what they wanted was remote classrooms - and there are plenty of great (or at least adequate!) tools for that.
I am quite optimistic about e-learning in the upcoming years. As (thankfully) remote working becomes more common, e-learning makes even more sense. Classroom training will of course resume, but I hope that by adopting blended learning, that it can be more efficient and leverage the flexibility and technology people are beginning to expect.
We experimented with doing a couple of virtual shows at the end of last year, the HR Summit and Expo in Dubai and ATD in Saudi Arabia. So welcome to the newsletter all those we ‘met’ there. I’m very pleased to say that our planned expansion into Saudi is going strongly in spite of the challenging circumstances.
Let me sign off there, and just wish you and your family a very healthy and prosperous 2021!
